Private day trips are generally priced at the same hourly rates as my Berlin tours, typically between €60 and €120 per hour depending on group size and the nature of the excursion. For very long days, multi-day trips, or groups booking several tours, discounts and negotiated rates may be possible. Additional transportation costs, such as train tickets or private vehicles, are quoted separately.
How do we travel on a day trip?
Most excursions are conducted using Germany's excellent rail network, which is often the fastest and most convenient option. For some destinations, private vehicles can also be arranged. The best transportation method depends on your group size, destination and preferences, and I'm happy to advise on the most practical option.
How long are the excursions?
Most day trips last between 6 and 12 hours, depending on the destination. Nearby locations such as Potsdam or Sachsenhausen can be explored in half a day, while places such as Dresden, Erfurt, Görlitz or Rügen usually require a full day. Custom itineraries and overnight trips can also be arranged.
Are the itineraries fixed?
No. Every excursion is private and can be tailored to your interests. Some guests prefer to focus on architecture, others on military history, Jewish history, Prussian heritage, World War II, the Cold War or local culture. Together we can adjust the itinerary, pace and emphasis to suit your interests.
Which day trip is best for first-time visitors?
That depends on your interests. Potsdam is ideal for Prussian history and palaces, Sachsenhausen offers important insight into Nazi Germany, Dresden is one of Germany's most beautiful historic cities, and Wittenberg is perfect for those interested in Martin Luther and the Reformation. How large can my group be?
Most private excursions work best for groups of 1 to 10 people, but I regularly guide larger groups of students, colleagues and organizations. For larger groups, additional guides or transportation arrangements can easily be organized.
